چکیده

This paper describes microfluidic channels that can be erased and then reconstructed. These channels were constructed between two stacked lass slides. These slides had ground and hydrophobic surfaces, and a line had previously been drawn on their surfaces using an inkjet printer ith a water-soluble liquid as its “ink”. A water solution was injected between the slides, and it flowed along the previously drawn line by itself. hus, a channel filled with the solution was formed, though there was no real groove on the slides. We investigated the application of various iquid materials as the “ink” based on their viscosity, boiling point, solubility in water, etc. A suitable material was 2-(2-ethoxyethoxy)ethanol. The hannel width that we could obtain ranged from 470 to 3000 m. We could rapidly construct straight, curved, and crossed channels. In addition, e could erase these channels by rinsing with acetone and then reconstruct them using the same procedure. 2006 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.

Lab-on-a-printer Platform Technology

This work introduces and demonstrates the concept of Lab-on-a-Printer whereby microfluidic components are integrated with inkjet dispensers. This concept allows for multi-functional microfluidic materials processing to be performed on chip and direct post-process printing of those materials enabling printing of programmable gradients and more generally structures with programmable composition. ...

Construction of refreshable microfluidic channels and electrophoresis along them

We proposed and demonstrated a “refreshable microfluidic channel.” This channel was constructed between two stacked glass slides with a 100 m thick spacer. Each surface of the slides was frosted by being ground with an abrasive and made hydrophobic due to the treatment with 1,1,1,3,3,3-hexamethyldisilazane. A line was drawn on the surface using dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO) as the ink. Because this...

Fabrication of a Polymeric Microfluidic Device with Inkjet-Printed Silver Electrodes for Electrokinetic Bioparticle Characterization

We are developing an inkjet printing technique for patterning electrodes on polymeric substrates to create microfluidic devices for bioparticle applications. Electrode deposition is important for actuating electrokinetic phenomena in microfluidic devices, and polymeric substrates are becoming increasingly common. Dielectrophoretic (DEP) forces are induced via application of a spatially non-unif...

Microfluidic tunable inkjet-printed metamaterial absorber on paper.

In this paper, we propose a novel microfluidic tunable metamaterial (MM) absorber printed on a paper substrate in silver nanoparticle ink. The metamaterial is designed using a periodic array consisting of square patches. The conductive patterns are inkjet-printed on paper using silver nanoparticle inks. The microfluidic channels are laser-etched on polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA). The conductive...

Piezoelectric Inkjet-based Single-cells Printing by Image Processing for High Efficiency and Automatic Cell Printing

Research in cell printing by piezoelectric inkjet printer has been conducted, however, relatively reliable single-cells printing yield had not been obtained. We proposed a different approach to increase the yield in single-cells printing by utilizing piezoelectric driving method not used in recent inkjet printer devices, push-pull method. Furthermore, cell recognition system constructed by imag...
